🔔 This guide is for Smart SIMs
The easiest way to install, set up and test your Smart SIM is through the Honest app.
Simply open the app, tap your Smart SIM, and select 'Set up SIM' to be guided through the process.
Prefer to do it manually? Follow the steps below.
1. Install your Smart SIM
This adds your Smart SIM to your iPhone so you can start using it.
Open the Smart SIM email with the subject line 'Your Smart SIM is here 📧' — check your spam folder if you can't find it.
Scan the QR code in the email using your iPhone's camera, or use the manual installation details at the bottom of the email.
Tap Add Mobile Plan when prompted.
Follow the on-screen steps to complete installation.
💡 You may see Telnyx mentioned during installation, that's expected. They're part of the technology behind the Smart SIM that makes it all work.

2. Label your new SIM as "Smart SIM"
When prompted to name your new eSIM, scroll down to Custom Label and enter Smart SIM. This helps you tell your SIMs apart.
Tap Continue to finish activation.
Your Smart SIM will have a US +1 number; this isn't something that can be used, but it's there as a reference if needed.
3. Confirm your Smart SIM appears in Settings
Go to Settings › Mobile Service and scroll down to SIMs. You should see both your primary SIM and your new Smart SIM listed, both showing On.
iPhones support a maximum of two active SIMs at a time. If you have more than two, you'll need to turn one off before the Smart SIM can be enabled.
4. Turn On Data Roaming
Go to Settings > Mobile Service › Smart SIM. Scroll down and toggle Data Roaming on, the toggle should turn green.
5. Update your Access Point Name (APN)
Go to Settings › Mobile Service › Smart SIM › Mobile Data Network.
In the top APN field – "Mobile Data APN", delete the existing value and type the following:
data.net
Leave all other fields (Username, Password, MMS) unchanged and press the back arrow at the top to save.
6. Verify setup & test
Open the Honest app and tap your Smart SIM. You'll see Test Connection as an option.
The app will walk you through three checks: turning Wi-Fi and any VPNs off and switching the connection to the Smart SIM. Once all three stages pass with a green tick, you're good to go.
If the test fails, go back through steps 4 and 5 to double-check your data roaming and APN settings.
