At Honest, we keep billing simple. Your first bill covers the time from the day you join up to the end of that month. After that, you’ll get your bill on a regular monthly schedule.

Sometimes you might see an estimated bill before the final one is ready. Don’t worry if it changes a little, that’s just to account for things like any extra charges on your plan.

Below are some examples of different scenarios in which you might find yourself in, take a look at the examples to see how your first bill will look.

Specific examples💡

Example 1 - Standard plan

Scenario: You join Honest on 15th May on a £10/month Smart SIM plan, paying £10 upfront when you sign up.

  • First Bill (Start of June):

    • Covers 15th–31st May: £5 (half a month, pro-rata)

    • Covers June: £10 (full month)

    • Total: £15

    • The £10 you already paid is credited, leaving £5 to pay.

From July onwards, your bill will simply be £10 each month.

Example 2 - Classic SIM with a discount

Some Classic SIM plans include promotional discounts, e.g., "two months half price." Here's how it works:

  • First Bill (Start of December):

    • Covers 15th Nov–30th Nov and December (1.5 months total)

    • Entire bill at half price

  • Second Bill (Start of January):

    • Covers 1st–16th Jan: half price (remaining half-month discount)

    • Covers 17th–31st Jan: full price

From February, you’ll pay the standard monthly rate.

When are bills sent out during the month 📆

Smart SIMs

Around the 1st–2nd of each month

Classic SIMs

Around the 6th–8th of each month (Dates may shift slightly if they fall on weekends.)

Common Billing Questions 🤔

Why is my bill higher or different when estimated?

Sometimes there may be extra charges associated to your bills that have been added, you can see these in the Honest app by going to SIMs > Tap on the relevant SIM > Extra charges.

Will issued credits always appear on my current bill?

No, credits will only reflect on bills generated after the credit is applied to your account. Any current or previously issued bills will remain unaffected.

Credits and adjustments 💸

Credits applied to your account, such as those the team have sent you or other account adjustments, will not affect any current bills already generated. Instead, these credits are applied to your next bill, ensuring the adjustment reflects in future due payments. If you’re reviewing a current bill and notice that the credit hasn’t yet been applied, it means the credit will take effect from the next bill that's generated.
