📲 Step by step: Fix your number showing incorrectly in Google Messages

If Google Messages isn’t showing your correct number, try these steps:

1. Turn off and on Google Chat features (RCS)

  • Open the Messages app

  • Tap the three dots in the top right

  • Tap Settings

  • Tap Chat Features (or RCS)

  • Toggle Enable Chat Features to Off

  • Turn your phone off and on again

  • Repeat the steps above and toggle Chat Features back On

  • Send a test message and your number should now appear correctly


2. Clear Google Play Services and Play Store cache

If that didn’t work, try clearing the cache and data:

Clear Google Play Services

  • Open your phone’s Settings

  • Tap Apps

  • Tap See all apps

  • Scroll to Google Play Services

  • Tap Storage

  • Tap Clear Cache

  • Tap Manage Space → then tap Clear all Data

  • Open Settings

  • Tap Apps and notifications

  • Tap See all apps

  • Scroll to Google Play Store

  • Tap Storage

  • Tap Clear Cache

  • Tap Clear Data


3. Reset the SIM card

Still not working? Try toggling the SIM card off and on:

  • Open Settings

  • Tap Connections

  • Tap SIM card management

  • Turn your SIM Off, wait a moment, then turn it back On

Your number should now appear correctly in Google Messages.
