If Google Messages is showing the wrong number, try these steps one at a time. You don’t need to do all of them unless the issue isn’t fixed.
Turn chat features off and on again 💬
Open the Messages app
Tap the three dots in the top right
Tap Settings → Chat features (or RCS)
Turn Chat features off
Restart your phone
Go back to Chat features and turn them back on
Send a test message
Clear Google Play Services and Play Store cache ⚙️
Clear Google Play Services
Go to Settings → Apps → See all apps
Tap Google Play Services
Tap Storage
Tap Clear cache
Tap Manage space → Clear all data
Clear Google Play Store
Go to Settings → Apps → See all apps
Tap Google Play Store
Tap Storage
Tap Clear cache and Clear data
Reset your SIM card 🔄
Go to Settings
Tap Connections
Tap SIM card management
Turn your SIM off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on

Your number should now show correctly in Google Messages 🎉
