Why isn't my phone working abroad?

A step by step guide for helping sort out issues whilst outside the UK

We’re sorry you're having trouble getting connected while abroad. Follow the steps below to get your roaming set up and make sure you can stay connected.

Step-by-step guide 🔢

  1. Check that your data settings are correct using the steps here

  2. Make sure Data roaming is turned on for your Honest SIM in your phone settings

  3. If you're outside the UK/EU, switch on World Travel in the Honest app by going to SIMs > Roaming > Rest of World Roaming > turn toggle on

  4. Airports have lots of networks that can confuse your phone. Once you’re out of the airport, turn on airplane mode for 5 minutes, then restart your phone.

  5. Try manually selecting a network:

    • iOS: Settings > Mobile Data > Network Selection > Turn off Automatic, then choose a partner network.

    • Android: Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Operators > Turn off Automatic Network Selection, then choose a partner network.

  6. If you're in the EU, make sure you haven’t exceeded 20GB of data. You can check this in the app under your SIM > Roaming > EU+ Roaming
